Kyle Michael James joins MPT for the very first time as Dennis - Natalie’s nerdy, romantic best friend - in All Shook Up! Keep reading to learn more about what first drove Kyle to the stage, and how he serves our country with his talent.
What was your very first theatrical experience?
I began my acting career in Kindergarten for a school video commercial helping to advertise the new vending machines in the cafeteria. I was known as the kid that said “Wow, what are those?”
What are some favorite roles you’ve played since then?
At UW-Platteville I was awarded two scholarships for my performances as Jesus in Godspell and Felix Turner in The Normal Heart. I also received an ACTF Irene Ryan Nomination for my portrayal of Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire.
What do you do when you’re not on stage?
When not doing theatre, I serve as a Human Resources Specialist with the Army National Guard. I first enlisted in October 2013 and received a Certificate of Achievement for epitomizing the Army Values that same year. The following year I was selected to sing the National Anthem at Advanced Individual Training graduation and most recently was awarded an Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service in the Wisconsin National Guard.
