After a busy MPT season last summer, Joshua Schiffman is back on the main stage with a very special cast mate, his son Liev!
How many shows have you been in with Middleton Players Theatre?
Joshua: This is my 6th show with MPT! The first show was Sweeney Todd back in 2018.
Liev: Just one, I was in Beauty and the Beast with my dad in 2019.
Big Fish revolves around a man who tells big stories about his life that seem unbelievable. What's something true from your life that sounds unbelievable?
Joshua: I once performed in Carnegie Hall!
Liev: I went to Iceland with my family and my soccer team, and on that trip I met the president. In the final of the tournament we were playing in, the president's son was on the opposing team, and we ended up winning.
What is your favorite song from Big Fish?
Joshua: The Witch; it's so different from anything else in the show.
Liev: Be the Hero
What do you like about performing with your son/dad?
Joshua: My son is a rising senior in high school, and really starting to figure out who he is and what he wants to do in the world. I love that part of his path is a passion for musical theater, and that's something we can share no matter where else he goes in life.
Liev: It's really nice for him to introduce me to a lot of the cast that he's more familiar with, and that I don't really know. Alongside that, I'm able to practice with him at home and we can learn from one another. I get to share this common interest and spend time with him, having fun doing something we both love.
