After performing in several post-covid Middleton Players Theatre shows in the Blackbox Theater, Zak Wolff gets to grace the Middleton PAC stage for the first time as we go back to the main stage! Here’s a conversation we had with him about his time in MPT’s Big Fish.
How many shows have you done with Middleton Players Theatre?
I have done 5 shows with MPT.
What was the first Middleton Players Theatre show you performed in?
I played Billy in the 2022 production of Musical of Musicals: The Musical.
What role do you play and what is your favorite part about the character?
I play Will Bloom, the son of Edward Bloom who is grounded in reality. My favorite part of playing Will is his strong character arc. I love his journey of personal discovery of what family means to him and how he responds to conflict within himself and his relationships.
What is your favorite song from Big Fish the Musical
Big Fish revolves around a man who tells big stories about his life that seem unbelievable. What’s something true from your life that sounds unbelievable?
I left China, right at the beginning of the pandemic.
What does it mean for you to perform for your friends, family and community?
It is something truly special, especially in the context of this performance of Big Fish. There are many beautiful moments that I’m excited and humbled to share with those I love. I’m most grateful to share these with my family, as we lost my grandfather to pancreatic cancer a few years ago. Much like Edward, he was a big storyteller and the joy of many family events.
Big Fish the musical will perform at the Middleton Performing Arts Center June 14-16 and June 21-23. Tickets to this show and discounted season tickets to all 3 of our summer shows can be purchased online or at the box office.
